Even Money

An “Even Money” bet is the same as an “Insurance” bet but is named differently when a player has a Blackjack. Simply speaking if a player has a Blackjack, and the dealer has a Ace showing and the player wants to insure against a dealer Blackjack this bet would be called a “Even Money” bet. Lets assume a player makes a $20 wager and has a Blackjack, if the dealer does not have a Blackjack this bet would pay $30. Now lets assume a player has a Blackjack and wagers the same amount but the dealer has an Ace showing, and the player elects to insure against a dealer Blackjack for the full amount of $10. Now one of two different outcomes will occur.

The dealer does not have a Blackjack therefor the player would loose the $10 insurance bet but would win $30 for the Blackjack.

The dealer does have a Blackjack therefor the player would win the $10 dollar insurance bet and the original wager would tie.

Split Strategy

When dealt a matching pair of cards the player has the option of splitting the hand into two separate hands. In most online casinos, if a player is dealt a matching pair of cards a split button will appear. A player would simply click this button if he or she would like to split the hand and would click do not split if not. If a player decides to split the hand he or she must wager the same amount as the original hand. In many online casinos a player is limited to only being hit once after splitting a pair of Aces, but this rule changes from casino to casino so we recommend that you read the rules at each casino before playing for real money.

It is also possible to re-split a hand more than once is most games but again read the rules before playing sometimes a player will not be permitted to split more than once. Note that a player can also split a pair of face cards however this is very rarely a good decision and is not recommended for beginners.
